My bro, the lucky bastard

So last year my brother was laid off from Deltek. I think it was around October. I felt bad because here I sit with nothing to do, and he gets canned. So January 18 he finally has an interview. His first since getting the axe. (while I spend month after month searching and interviewing and getting rejected, blah blah) I'm sure you see where this is heading. He got an offer on Friday. The company and position are great! I'm very happy for him. Really. But come on. Why can't I find a f'ing job?!?!?

Update on that... The part time thing hasn't completely panned out yet. I'm still waiting for the hiring manager to "work things out internally". In the meantime, I had 2 interviews on Wed and one intv on Thursday with BMC (yes, the same BMC where Randy works). It's a contract deal though, 6-12 months. And it's a Collateral Manager position. Not the most interesting work but it pays really well. Really well. So I have my 4th intv with BMC this afternoon at 4pm. I'm supposed to have another intv with a different company on Wed. afternoon. I'm REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY hoping I get an offer before then, because I'm REALLY REALLY REALLY tired of this interviewing crap. Really.

Did I mention my bro got hired after his first interview?????

Update on my (not so) pathetic situation

So... last week I sent my rez out to everyone I know and their dog, asking for any help anyone could provide. In finding a new job, alot of times it's who you know, ya know? So Lindsay sent it to one of her tenants (she's a Property Manager) and the branch manager of a company there contacted her. The position is a Marketing Rep position creating advertising pieces, direct mail, etc. but also some account management calling. Now, you all know how much I dislike the phone, but... this is a sweet deal.

The guy told Lindsay that he could hire me part time, 20 hours a week, and pay me at least what I'm making now (hourly). Monday I went in for an interview. Great guy! Company looks like a fun place to work. The work would be fun (other than the calling) and I could just do it part time! 8:30 - 12:30. That way, Ryan wouldn't have to go to before and after school care (saving approx $450 a month) and Nate could cut back to part time daycare! (saving another $415 a month) AND I can pick up my littlest man and bring him home and spend time with him in the afternoons! and clean my godawful dirty house and get dinner on the table! I think I can handle the phones for all that bonus.

One of the reasons I think this will be for the best is that Randy's promotion to Manager is going to leave less time for him to help out around the house and with meals and with the kids. I can't imagine how we would do it if we were both working full time.

I'm so jazzed about this!!!! I get to work part time and spend more time with my kids and being a mommy and housewife! :-) And I still get some me time at a job doing some things that I love to do.

Oh, and did I mention the place is 10 MINUTES from my house?!?!?! AND it's right next door to Lindsay's work so I can see her too!

The manager guy said he would work on the part time logistics and get back to me today (he's never hired a part time person so he;s not sure how it would work with HR etc.)

Stay tuned!!!!!

January Blues

I always seem to get the blues in January. This year it's almost unbearable. I'm so down about my job situation. I heard back "no" from Stewart Title. It crushed me, thus started the downward spiral. I just feel so worthless right now. It's so hard to come to work every day, with little or nothing to do. Plus I'm feeling unusally chubby right now. The scale isn't changing so I guess it's in my head, but it sure does feel real.

Randy is leaving for India on Friday, which also has me depressed. I'm going to miss him. Plus it's tiring being a single parent. He'll be gone a little over a week.

I've been trying to do everything in my power to motivate myself into feeling less hopeless, but at the end of the day I just want to pig out and drink wine. Ugh, I'm in a bad place.

The little lights at the end of the tunnel keep me smiling some. (my two little men)
